Where are my records stored? Can I lose them?
Records stay on the device you are using: Records on iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch stay consistent across your devices through iCloud, and the web version uses your browser’s local storage. Shijian has no account of its own and runs no servers of its own: the Apple-side copy lives in your own iCloud, and the developer cannot read its contents. The flip side is that deleting the app clears only that device; to remove the iCloud copy as well, choose Erase all records inside the app. Clearing your browser’s site data removes the web records.
I got a new phone. Do my records move with me?
Between iPhone and Mac, yes: sign in to the same Apple Account and your experiments and notes stay in step through iCloud — you never register an account with us. The web version is not on that channel; its records stay in that browser.
My records disappeared after switching browsers or addresses
Browsers isolate local data per site and per browser, so a different address or a different browser cannot see the earlier records. They are still there — open the original address in the original browser.
My watch and phone disagree
Active experiments, check-ins, and today’s notes sync both ways between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch through Apple’s WatchConnectivity. When the watch is offline, changes are queued and delivered once the connection returns. If they stay out of step, bring both devices together, unlock them, and open Shijian once on each.
Why don’t the app and the web version share records?
The native app and the web version currently keep two independent local stores. A unified cross-device archive depends on the cloud account, which is not built yet.
How many experiments can I run at once?
Up to 3. When starting a new one you can run it alongside the current experiments, or drop one of them to make room.
Where do finished or abandoned experiments go?
Both go to My Experiments → Archive, with all records kept and restorable. Abandoning is not deleting.
How do I switch languages?
The interface and all experiment content are available in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean, and your choice is remembered. The switch at the top of this page works the same way.
How do I delete my data for good?
Deleting Shijian from an iPhone, Mac, or Apple Watch removes only that device’s local data; the iCloud copy remains. To remove that too, choose Erase all records under My experiments → Support & privacy; for the web version, clear site data or storage in your browser. The privacy policy has the full description.
